Speaking in Homa Bay County where he had attended PS Omollo’s homecoming ceremony, a tough-talking Ruto assured Kenyans that he will be forced to act toughly to protect the life and properties of Kenyans when demonstrations resume on Wednesday.
He said that despite him respecting others, he will act and that no one should blame him. He added that he will passionately prevent any demonstrations from occurring
“I want to agree with everyone that I respect every person but when it reaches there (causing mayhem during protests), I will have to do what Kenyans have chosen me to do and no one should blame me, and I will do it passionately,”
The President stated that the opposition is misusing certain provisions of the Constitution to cause anarchy and property destruction. He added that the same Constitution gives the government the mandate to protect the lives and properties of Kenyans.
“I want to say here in Homa Bay County that as a nation, we must forge unity of purpose and that it is not going to be business as usual. We are not going to use certain provisions of the Constitution to cause mayhem, anarchy, or destroy property and life merely because we are hiding behind certain provisions of the Constitution. The same constitution mandates the government to protect life and properties, and interest of all other Kenyans,” President Ruto said.
