Though many believe that Azimio la Umoja coalition leader Raila Odinga is slowly by slowly losing his influence especially in his Nyanza region political backyard, but write him off at your own risk.
At 78 years, the former Prime Minister is clearly at the twilight of his political career spanning almost four decades. But as the engine running the opposition today, he still enjoys a huge following in the Nyanza region.
Whereas the recent few months have seen a beehive of political activities in Nyanza with a good number of regional politicians gravitating to the President William Ruto axis, Raila is a political enigma that you cannot dismiss.
As such, the following politicians could perish politically for defying the region’s political kingpin:
1. Nicholas Gumbo: The former Rarieda MP is among those who have openly gone against Raila to support Ruto.
2. Fred Outa: The Ex-Kisumu Senator was once a key Raila lieutenant before joining the Ruto camp. As such, his political career is in the line.
3. Rose Nyamunga: She is a veteran in Kisumu politics. But after defying Raila to back Ruto, the former Women Representative’s future is hanging in the balance.
Others include: former Rongo MP Dalmas Otieno, former Kisumu Central MP Fred Ouda, Odoyo Owidi, former Nyakach MP Polyns Ochieng’, former Kisumu County Governor Jack Ranguma and Ex-Ndhiwa legislator Agostino Neto.
