Kenyans React After MP Jalang’o Announced New Guidelines For Hosting Events In Langata Venues

ODM rebel Langata Member of Parliament Phelix Odiwuor alias Jalas has triggered online conversation after announcing new guidelines for hosting events in venues within Langata Constituency.

The first time Member of Parliament now says that anybody who wishes to host any event in Langata Constituency will have to give first priority to young people from Langata.

Jalas as he is known to many has affirmed that anybody who will interested in having event in Carnivore, Uhuru Gardens, Nyayo Stadium or any place in Langata must give opportunity to 50% of youths from Langata or have the event held elsewhere.

“New Guideline, If you are Hosting an event in Langata venues and you don’t give our young people a chance to work at you event, that event will not happen! Carnivore, Uhuru Gardens, Nyayo stadium, and any other venue in Langata! 50% of jobs must be from Langata Youths ama uende ufanye event kwenu!” Jalango wrote on his official Facebook page.

The post has since the attracted comments from Kenyans online who are now asking Jalas to focus on service delivery to the people of Langata.

“Jalas. These are PRIVAT BUSINESSES you can’t dictate how and what they do. Ati events won’t happen? Try and meet in court. The best thing you failed to do was to reject the Finance Bill which you unfortunately supported.”
