An Italian model has revealed he was fired from this year’s Met Gala because his rugged good looks left stars like Kylie Jenner in the shade.

Eugenio Casnighi, 26, who worked as a greeter for the museum’s previous two events, indicated in a new TikTok video that he has not been invited by organizers as of Monday after his beauty became the talk of the 2023 gala.

“Remember me?” he asks, pointing to the photo.

The clip then shows a flashback to last year’s event, hosted by Vogue magazine editor Anna Wintour, where Emma Chamberlain interviews Blackpink’s Jennie Kim.

Casnighi is standing in the background doing his job, but the person recording the interview was apparently blinded by his good looks.

The camera drifts away from Chamberlain and Kim and focuses on Casnighi’s face.

It was footage that went viral and a text appeared on the screen saying: ‘I’m trying to focus on Emma interviewing Jennie, but…’

Casnighi, who worked for the Met Gala as a model and greeter for 2022 and 2023, said he had previously been unable to capture all the attention because he was under a non-disclosure agreement.

“It’s funny enough,” the model said, “they fired me so now I can say whatever I want.”

Casnighi announced he would return again this year but was shocked to previously discover he will not be welcome, despite being confirmed a month ago that he would be attending.

Event organizers said Casnighi was responsible for all the attention.

“They blamed me,” the model said. “They said, ‘You made it about yourself, so we don’t want to work with you anymore.’

“They informed me today that they cut me off,” he said. “They fired me because I went viral last year.”

Casnighi said he has emails and messages confirming his claims.

Speaking to DailyMail.com on Saturday after posting the video, Casnighi opened up about what it was like to be part of the coveted event.

He revealed that during the past two Met Galas, a mystery celeb “got in trouble because they started smoking in the tent in front of the stairs.”

“That’s not allowed,” Casnighi explained. “But this person didn’t care. They are very famous so they can do whatever they want,” he added, refusing to reveal who the celebrity was.

The Italian model said organizers had asked the celebrity to quit smoking.

In response, Casnighi said the celebrity replied, “No, what are you going to do about it?”

During his experience at the event, Casnighi felt everyone was nice.

While he wouldn’t say any of the guests “were rude to him,” he revealed that when the celebrities first arrive, they aren’t sure who is working the event and who is attending.

“I don’t wear a name tag, so they don’t know if I’m an employee at first. And when I realize I work there…some people change completely,” he said.

‘They disappear, as it were. They stop talking to me and start talking to the real guys.”

“It’s funny because the Met Gala and the company I’m not going to name… want models to work the red carpet,” he told his fans on TikTok.

‘They want people to be noticed. They literally told me “we chose you because we like you more than other people”.

“But when people took pictures of the real celebrity, like Kylie Jenner, and sat next to her, of course I ended up in the picture.”

Jenner and her sister Kim Kardashian’s changing appearances over the years have led to speculation that they have rebuilt their faces and bodies with plastic surgeries.

Casnighi told DailyMail.com that he ran into Jenner at a party in Brooklyn after the event and that she had done “maybe a little more” work.

“I was a guest there,” Casnighi said of the party. ‘In that case I spoke to her as a guest. It was very different. I didn’t work for her.

“I have to say, when I first met her at the Met Gala last year…she looked amazing.

“I wouldn’t say it looks natural, but she’s never denied having work done.”

Casnighi added that he “supports” surgery if it makes you feel better about yourself.”

“I still think she’s beautiful,” he said of Jenner.

Viewers of his update online quickly rushed to the heartthrob’s defense.

“They can’t handle your beauty going viral. Will DEFINITELY happen again,” said one TikTok user.

One person was confused by the organisers’ frustration, commenting: ‘I’m confused, why is that not good? If you draw attention to the event, won’t that benefit the company?’
