Independent Police Oversight Authority (IPOA) on 24th August afternoon released a statement on police operations before, during and after last year’s august general election.
Speaking via their official twitter handle, the authority noted that they monitored all operations conducted by the security agencies.
The statement as well intimates that police operations following the postponement of elections of governors, MCAs and members of parliament were monitored with a final report expected to be released.
“The Authority monitored police operations before, during and after the general elections of 9th August 2022 and the postponed elections for Governors, Members of the National Assembly and Members of the County Assembly in some areas, held on 29th August 2022”, the statement reads.
This comes days after the former prime minister Raila Odinga slammed the authority branding it dead.
In an event attended by Azimio la Umoja one Kenya Coalition’s leaders, the veteran opposition leader claimed IPOA has failed to oversight police officers after they harmed innocent Kenyans who took part in Anti-government demonstrations.
As a result, the coalition is planning to lodge a case against Inspector general of police Japheth Koome at ICC over police brutality that left over 72 kenyans dead and several injured.
Speaking in an interview, Azimio la Umoja one Kenya Coalition’s legal advisor Paul Mwangi revealed they are seeking investigations of Karim Khan during his trip to Kenya days ago.
