According to the Azimio La Umoja One Coalition party led by Raila Odinga, the protests are due to high cost of living as a result of escalated food and fuel prices.
A video of Raila Odinga speaking against mass action due to high prices of food has emerged online. The video which was recorded in 2011 features Raila saying that the issue of escalating food prices and high cost of fuel is not an issue of going to the streets.
In the video, Raila insists that finding sustainable solutions is the remedy to the high cost of living. During the handshake error, the Azimio leader Raila Odinga had maintained the same.
However, after losing presidential elections in 2022, Raila seems to have changed tune. He now claims that protests are the only way to compel Ruto’s government to bring down the high prices of fuel and food.
Abuga Makori who posted the video said that bipartisan talks should be embraced as it has always been done before. What do you think about this?
