Had he readily accepted retired President Uhuru Kenyatta’s job offer, former Dagoretti South MP Dennis Waweru would not be languishing in the cold today.

But in April 2022, Waweru turned down Uhuru’s job offer as Kenya’s Consulate General to the Democratic Republic of Congo in order to focus on politics.

At the time, the former legislator had been in the cold for five years since losing his seat during the 2017 general election to former comedian-turned-politician John Kiarie alias KJ.

Though he is known for his deeper pockets, in 2017, Waweru could not survive the KJ wave as he suffered a shock election defeat.

In 2022, though appointed by Uhuru as a diplomat, Waweru opted to once again try his luck in the race for Dagoretti South MP seat.

Having secured a Jubilee Party ticket to challenge the incumbent of UDA, Waweru ended up suffering another defeat at the hands of the same man: Kiarie.

Now as he finds himself languishing in the cold once again, the former legislator must be regretting his decision to reject Uhuru’s job offer as an envoy.

As he plans on his next political move after suffering second straight election defeat, the former Nairobi County Governor hopeful will come back much wiser in future.
