The Kenya Kwanza camp and the Azimio Coalition are expected to kick off their talks after they agreed to end the political stalemate amicably through dialogue. The two camps brokered a deal after William Ruto and Raila Odinga held a closed door meeting at a Mombasa Hotel in the presence of former Nigerian President Obasanjo.
The lead members from each camp, Kalonzo Musyoka from Azimio Coalition and Kimani Inchungwa from Kenya Kwanza have been sending information to each other on tye way forward for the talks including time and venue. The Azimio Coalition proposed the talks to start on 7th but their counterpart in the Kenya Kwanza declined ye invitation and instead proposed 10th.
Today, Ichung’wa has finally came out saying that ab agreement has finally been arrived at and he will be meeting his counterpart to iron out and plan for the meeting. Speaking today, Ichung’wa noted that they had agreed to meet with Kalonzo on Wednesday starting from 11:30 am at the Bomas of Kenya.
“Tumekubaliana na Kalonzo kwamba tutakutana saa tano na nusu pale Bomas, Jumatano, na si kwa hoteli,” Kimani Ichungwah said.
This comes barely a day after the Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen warned that should the talks fail, they will blame it on Kalonzo and Ichung’wa. Murkomen also asked the two leaders to stop using third part communication and instead call each other and meet.
Even as the country gears towards this talks, the utterances by Azimio leader and President William Ruto are likely to derail the talks as each camp continue to hold hardline stands among themselves.
