Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition party leader Raila Odinga has broken his silence on alleged an assassination attempt on his life during friday’s anti-government protests in Nairobi.
Raila said no matter the scales of intimidation, they will not relent in their quest to hold the William Ruto regime accountable
Addressing journalists, Odinga claimed his vehicle was hit by a live bullet fired by police whom he claim were aiming for his life.
“Hata ulete askari milioni mmoja, hawawezi nimaliza,”Odinga said.
During the melee, several vehicles on the opposition leader’s convoy including his vehicle got their rear windows shattered.
Raila described the attack as a ‘huge worry’ to Kenyans since it posed a threat to multipatyism, freedom of speech, and association.
Mr. Odinga hence hit out at the President William Ruto-led government, accusing it of taking the country to pre-colonial times with what he termed as attacks against peaceful demonstrators merely exercising their rights.
He said that the attack presents a very dark reminder of what this country has witnessed before particularly in the run-up to the 1992 elections and on the 2007-2008 polls.
