Nyamira County Assembly Majority Leader, Elijah Osiemo, was laid to rest at his home in Nyamaiya on Monday, August 21, 2023.
Hon Osiemo, Nyamaiya Ward Member of County Assembly (MCA) died in a road accident along the Mai Mahiu-Narok Road on Monday afternoon, August 7. Two of his colleagues and their driver were seriously injured.
The deceased died on the spot while the three others were rushed to Kijabe Mission Hospital for specialized treatment.
Gusiiland leaders united during his burial with most of them calling for unity. The leaders who gave their last respect to the late Osiemo include; Education CS Ezekiel Ombaki Machogu, Two governors of both ( Nyamira and Kisii) counties, two Senators of both counties led by Senator Onyonka, Chief Whip Sylvanus Osoro, UDA treasurer and Kitutu North Mp Hon Japheth Nyakundi, Solicitor General Shadrack Mose, Women rep Nyamira Jerusha Momanyi, West mugirango mp Host Hon Steve Mogaka, Kitutu masaba MP Clive gisairo, Borabu mp Hon Patrick Osero, Nyaribari Chache Mp Hon Zaheer Jhanda, Vice Chancellor kisii University Professor Nathan Ogechi, former Kisii Governor James Omariba Ongwae, Hon Walter Nyambati, Dignitaries, MCAs and the great people of Gusiiland.
In a eulogy read by CS Machogu, president William Ruto affirmed his commitment in ensuring that the country progresses to greater heights he also thanked the great people of gusiiland for unanimously supporting the government agenda in realizing its mandate.
Mourners said they have lost a young, vibrant and promising leader who was not only a gleam of hope to the great people of Nyamaiya but also to Nyamira county.
May God grant the family and friends more than earthly consolation.
