Drama as MCA believed to be Mwangaza’s supporter is roughed up

Drama unfolded as a Member of the Meru County Assembly (MCA), believed to be a supporter of Governor Kawira Mwangaza, was manhandled and his clothes torn as he attempted to access House’s chamber.

Mbeu MCA John Muguna aka Original tried to access the assembly at around 4:00 p.m. when he was confronted by a group of youths who forced him out of his personal car before roughing him up and tearing his clothes.

The MCA, who is among 11 others who did not attend the ongoing impeachment motion, is alleged to have lost Ksh250,000 in the scuffle.

It took the intervention of the police to free the MCA from the hands of the irate group.

According to a resident and an eyewitness, who declined to be named, they accused the Ward Representative of arriving late and allegedly having an ill motive against the ongoing ouster motion.

“Why is he coming late and we know who he is representing? They went to Maasai Mara to hide so that they could not vote. So why is he coming? He should have stayed where he was,” they shouted.

The county boss is facing the second ouster, accused by the MCAs of grossly violating the Constitution and County Government Act in relation to the use of public resources and management. The MCAs also cited gross misappropriation and misuse of county funds.

The motion listed seven counts, which include charges of nepotism, usurpation of roles belonging to the Meru County Public Service Board, contempt of the Assembly, inciting and insulting leaders in public meetings, among others.
