Diana Marua becomes Kenya’s first female celebrity to earn YouTube golden plaque

Kenyan celebrity Diana Marua has etched her name in history as the first female Kenyan personality to achieve the prestigious milestone of receiving the coveted YouTube Golden Plaque.

In an Instagram post on July 1, 2024, Marua announced that she received the plaque after reaching one million subscribers.

Marua thanked her fans for their incredible support, explaining that they were a very powerful force that made this possible.

“The First Female Artist and Content Creator in Kenya to Receive the YouTube Golden Button for achieving 1 Million Subscribers. Words fail me to express my gratitude to every single person who watches my content. I started Content Creation to Inspire, Educate and Connect with my people across the Globe. #DIANABAHATI is not just a YouTube channel, it is a force,” she remarked.

Marua’s journey

As Marua reflected on her journey, she acknowledged that she began seriously creating content during Covid’s peak. The uncertain times did not discourage her, five years later, she has over one million subscribers.

“I opened this channel in July 2019, I became serious about creating content in 2020 (during Covid). We hit 1 million subscribers on February 17th, 2024. It’s taken 5 years of hard work, commitment and resilience. It has taken an entire nation to get this far. To every single person who watches and supports our content, this Golden Button is our win,” Marua said.

With her groundbreaking accomplishment, Marua added that her journey was filled with several uncertainties but that did not deter her from focusing.

“You made this happen! I want to say Thank you from the bottom of my heart. With so many ups and downs, we did not lose focus. The family is still growing and all I can say is, I value every single one of you,” Diana added.
