CS Kuria flags off Busia Border Marathon, meets Ugandan MPs

Public Service Cabinet Secretary (CS) Moses Kuria on Sunday flagged off the Busia Border Half Marathon.

The CS had been invited to the event by Busia Governor Paul Otuoma. Teso South Member of Parliament (MP) Mary Emase, county woman representative Catherine Omanyo, Budalangi MP Raphael Wanjala, Funyula Hon Wilberforce Oundo among other local leaders accompanied him.

The CS was also flanked by MSME’s Principal Secretary (PS) Susan Mangeni, PAS Office of the President Arthur Osiya, Teso South MP Mary Emase, five MPs from Uganda, a section of Busia Members of County Assembly (MCAs), CECs, and officials from Athletics Kenya.

“This morning, I am delighted to join the leaders and people of Busia County on a working visit to the area. At the invitation of my host, Busia Governor, H.E Hon Otuoma and the county woman representative, Catherine Omanyo, I flagged off the Busia Border Marathon,” the CS stated.

The purpose of the three-part marathon is to enhance unity among the communities and promote the need for health awareness and general wellness through sports.

CS Kuria expressed his excitement over the event which he says is a notable testament of the close ties the country continues to foster with neighbours across the border.

“The race, not only brings together the residents of Busia in a unity of purpose but also promotes the need for health awareness and general wellness through sports. The 3 part race, divided into 5km, 10km, and 15km, leading to Uganda, is a notable testament of the close ties we continue to foster with our neighbors across borders,” CS Kuria said.
