CS Kindiki Breaks Silence On Karen Homes Raids As 23 Guns Are Recovered

The cabinet secretary for the interior ministry, Professor Kithure Kindiki, has revealed that the police raided the home of retired president Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta’ s son on the government’ s instruction.

The operation, according to a statement from the Interior Cabinet Secretary, was carried out at three residences in Karen and its main goal was to allay the security worries that plagued the three- day Azimio protests.

Kindiki asserted that the operation was carried out within the bounds of the law and urged leaders not to politicize it. The Cabinet Secretary emphasized that the operation was only for security purposes and that neither its politicization nor sensationalization would dissuade law enforcement organizations from working to keep the country secure. Kindiki added that no Kenyan is above the law and that police officers would always conduct home searches anytime they have reason to believe that something suspicious is being done in a certain way.

The Cabinet Secretary defended the raid by pointing to the Firearms Act of the Kenyan Laws, which he claimed allows security agencies to inspect locations where firearms are kept and requires civilian firearm owners to turn their weapons over for inspection and ballistic testing when there is a reasonable suspicion that such weapons or ammunition may have been used illegally. According to Kindiki, police tried to determine whether a vast network of civilian gun owners and heads of well- known criminal gangs supplied the weapons, including firearms and crude weapons, that were used to fuel violence during violent riots.9a30fdccf1a74a939abd8a3b8afccc42?quality=uhq&resize=720

Kindiki went on to say that the operation was successful, 23 weapons were found, and they will be examined to see if they were used to kill peaceful protestors. Kindiki said that certain licensed gun owners have allegedly been issuing their firearms to be used in the savage murder of Kenyans and then accusing police officers of being responsible. He told Kenyans to remain vigilant while affirming that they will work within the confines of law to ensure that suspects are brought to book.
