House Allowance :        Ksh.28,000 p.m.

Requirements of Appointment

For appointment to this grade, an officer must have:-

1. A cumulative service period of four (4) years, three(3) of which should be at the grade of Road and Railway Transport Officer or in a comparable and relevant position in the wider Public Service or in the Private Sector

1. A Bachelors degree in any of the following disciplines:-  Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Architecture, Business Administration, Economics/Statistics, Sociology, Public Administration, Anthropology, Urban Planning, Transport Economics, or its equivalent from a recognized Institution;

1. A Certificate in any of the following disciplines:- Transport Policy and Planning,  Road Transport and Safety, Transport Engineering, Traffic Engineering, Road Safety Management, Multi Modal Transport, Sustainable Urban Transport, Urban Transport Planning or any other equivalent qualification lasting not less than two(2) weeks from a recognized institution;

1. A Certificate in computer application skills from a recognized institution;

• Demonstrated merit and shown ability as reflected in work performance and results.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Developing draft standards for road and railway transport safety;
2. Preparing reports on road and railway transport;
3. Compiling data on Accident Statistics and Road and Railway Safety matters;
4. Drafting guidelines for promoting safe, reliable and clean road transport systems;
5. Developing draft proposals for planning of non-motorized and inter-mediate means of transport;
6. Addressing road traffics congestion and pollution in urban areas in conjunction with stakeholders; and
7. Participating in road safety awareness campaigns.
