To provide independent, objective assurance and consulting services to the KenTrade Board and Management, enhancing the organization’s value through systematic evaluation of its processes and operations. The goal is to ensure the effectiveness and efficiency of compliance, internal control, risk management, and governance processes.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct a risk-based preliminary review of all organizational areas to develop an annual work plan covering audit activities, risk management reviews, quality management, and compliance.
- Execute the approved work plan by overseeing audit, compliance, and quality management system reviews and preparing related reports.
- Develop, implement, and review audit policies for the agency.
- Establish and update the Board Audit and Risk Committee charter.
- Organize and document meetings for the Audit and Risk Committee, preparing quarterly reports on compliance, risk, and other relevant review activities.
- Provide leadership on audit-related decisions and activities to both management and staff.
- Lead and direct the Internal Audit, Risk, and Compliance Department team.
- Stay informed on relevant laws, regulations, and updates to ensure the agency receives accurate advice.
- Supervise information systems audits.
- Set and monitor performance control targets.
- Collaborate with the Finance Manager to coordinate external audit activities.
Minimum Academic, Professional Qualifications, and Experience
- Experience: At least nine (9) years of work experience, with a minimum of four (4) years in a management role in a similar organization, public service, or reputable institution.
- Education:
- Master’s degree in a relevant field from a recognized institution.
- Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Business Administration, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline.
- Professional Certification: CPA, ACCA, or an equivalent certification from a recognized institution.
- Membership: Good standing with the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK).
- Leadership Training: Completion of a recognized leadership development program lasting at least four (4) weeks.
- Compliance: Meets the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution.
