Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) is a State Corporation established through the Science and Technology (Amendment) Act of 1979, which has since been amended to Science, Technology and Innovation Act 2013. The 1979 Act established KEMRI as a National body responsible for carrying out health research in Kenya. Currently, KEMRI Operates under Legal Notice No.35 of March.

KEMRI invited applications from interested and qualified individuals to fill the following positions

Transport Manager

The selected candidate will Drive unit vehicles and facilitate transport at the site.

Information Communication Technology Officer

The ICT officer will be the primary user support officer who will maintain the Institute computer networks, provide technical support and ensure the Institute IT systems run smoothly, as s/he will monitor and maintain all computer systems, install and configure
hardware and software, and solve technical problems for users

Community Health Worker

The position serves as the POC for all community-related activities and carries out community
mobilization for current and upcoming research studies.

Driver

Applicant must hold an O-Level School Certificate Grade D+ and above and hold a valid Driving License class BCE

Sonographer

The incumbent, working with study and MOH teams, will be responsible for performing
ultrasound scans, training, and mentoring frontline health providers to perform obstetric ultrasound for the FAMLI study and other studies in the Pregnancy Surveillance platform. This will entail performing scans and archiving images for the Pregnancy Surveillance studies and assisting the
ministry of health staff to perform routine scans.

Registered Nurse

The incumbent will be responsible for providing nursing care to study participants, conducting antenatal, perinatal and post-natal care to mother and follow up for mother and baby pair. He/she will participate in consenting study participants, taking histories, vital signs, physical examination,
anthropometrics, assist in conducting deliveries and management of patients. Coordinate referral of pregnant women, enrolment and follow-ups. Collect high quality data for the study participants and
(with training) conduct simple ultrasound procedures on pregnant mothers.

Data Manager

The successful candidate will provide statistical and data analysis and management support for ongoing studies within the Family Health Unit. He/she will work with the Statistical team,
Data Management team, Study Coordinators, and Principal Investigators to plan for data analysis,set up analytical datasets, assist junior staff in conducting analysis using appropriate tools and
techniques, guide data validation and cleaning processes, and finally analyse the data.

Data Manager

Applicant should posses a bachelor degree in computer science or information Technology or equivalent/related field

Research Administrator

The successful candidate will work with the Principal Investigator to conduct the social science research, which is aimed at understanding the factors that could affect successful implementation of
ATSBs at scale. Data will be gathered at the individual/household levels to better understand perceptions of and experiences with malaria control products. Social science methods will include in-depth interviews, free-listing, rating, ranking and nighttime member observation. The research will be carried out in Siaya County in Western Kenya.

Research Scientist

The incumbent will work within KEMRI study areas in Siaya and Kisumu to support strategies for working with local communities in the mortality and pregnancy surveillance studies as prescribed under FHU. More specifically, he/she will carry out community sensitization
and applied qualitative research about community practices related to child, maternal and neonatal
health.

S/he will interact regularly with general community members, community/ facility-based health workers and other key stakeholders to conduct ethical, respectful, culturally-appropriate, and
timely qualitative research in order to develop insights for improving acceptance of mortality and pregnancy surveillance activities.

Study Coordinator

For appointment to this grade the candidate must have a Higher Diploma in Clinical Medicine such as Lung/Skin Or a Diploma in Clinical Medicine with 5 years’ experience from a recognized institute and posses a Registration Certificate from the Clinical Officers’ Council.

Nursing Officer

For appointment to this grade the candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing qualification from a recognized institution and posses a Registration Certificate from the Nursing Council of Kenya.

Registered Nurse

For appointment to this grade the candidate must have a Diploma in any of the following disciplines: Kenya Registered Community Health Nursing, Nursing, Kenya Registered Midwifery, Nursing/Midwifery, Nursing/Mental Health and Psychiatry or any other equivalent qualification from a recognized institution and posses a Registration Certificate issued by the Nursing Council of Kenya;

Quality Assurance and Risk Management Officer

For appointment to this grade the candidate must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Biomedical Sciences or any other relevant field from a recognized Institution

Principal Community Health Worker

For appointment to this grade the candidate must have at least Eight (8) years of relevant work experience.

Pharmaceutical Technologist

For appointment to this grade the candidate must have a Diploma in Pharmaceutical Technology or its equivalent from a recognized institution and posses a Registration Certificate from the Pharmacy and Poisons board

Office Assistant

For appointment to this grade the candidate must have a Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education Mean Grade D or any other equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;

Laboratory Technologists

For appointment to this grade the candidate must have a Diploma in any of the following fields: Medical Laboratory Sciences, Laboratory sciences, Laboratory Technology, Medical Laboratory Technology or any other equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.

Laboratory Analyst

For appointment to this grade the candidate must have At least eight (5) years relevant work experience

Health Records and Information Technologist

For appointment to this grade the candidate must have a Diploma in Health Records and Information Technology or any other relevant and equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.

Driver.

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have a Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education mean grade of D+ or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution and a valid driving license free from any current endorsements and valid for any of the classes of vehicles which the officer is required to drive.

Data Manager

Applicant must be a holder of a bachelor degree in Statistics, Biostatistics, Mathematics,
Computer Science, or any related field from a recognized university.

Data Assistant

Applicant must posses a Diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information
Systems

Community Health Worker

For appointment to this grade the candidate must have a Diploma in the following fields Community Health and Development, Nutrition, Social work or relevant qualification from a recognized Institution.

Clinical Research Scientist

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy from a recognized Institution and must be registered with the Pharmacy & Poisons Board.

Clinical Research Scientist

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree in Medicine and surgery from a recognized Institution and be registered with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentist Board

Clinical Officer

For appointment to this grade the candidate must have a Diploma in clinical medicine and posses a registration Certificate from the Clinical Officers’ Council.

Administrative Assistant

For appointment to this grade the candidate must have a Diploma in Business Administration, Management, Fleet Management, Public Administration, Political Science, Sociology, or any other relevant and equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
