The Catholic Diocese of Malindi, through the Pope Francis Rescue Home, is dedicated to providing a safe and nurturing environment for vulnerable individuals.
As part of our commitment to sustainability and self-sufficiency, we are currently seeking a qualified and experienced individual to join our team as a Gardener.

Requirements:
We are looking for a dedicated individual who meets the following requirements:
i. Education: Minimum of Form Four education or equivalent.
ii. Experience: A minimum of 2 to 3 years of proven experience working as a gardener.
iii. Knowledge: Proficiency in the creation and utilization of natural fertilizers to ensure optimal soil health.
iv. Pest Management: Understanding of local pests and effective methods to eliminate them, ensuring the health and productivity of the garden.
v. Communication Skills: Strong verbal communication skills to interact with the team and provide updates on garden-related matters.
vi. Police Clearance Certificate: A valid police clearance certificate to ensure the safety and security of our residents.
Job Description:
As a Gardener at the Pope Francis Rescue Home, you will be responsible for:
i. Kitchen Garden Maintenance: Cultivating and maintaining a productive kitchen garden to supplement the meals provided at the home.
ii. Soil Cultivation and Care: Performing tasks such as digging, forking, mulching, watering, raking, weeding, edging, pruning, seed sowing, bed preparation, and planting to ensure the health and vitality of the garden.
iii. Animal Care: Overseeing the care of goats and poultry, which serve as a supplementary food source for the home’s residents.
iv. Advisory Role: Providing valuable guidance to the management regarding garden-related matters, including improvements, innovations, and sustainability practices.
v. Progress Reporting: Compiling and submitting a monthly progress report to the Project Coordinator, detailing the garden’s developments and achievements.
