Save the Children has been providing support to children in Kenya through our development and humanitarian programmes since 1950. We work with communities, local partners, and the government to design and deliver programmes to meet the needs of the most deprived children. We also advocate for greater investment of public and private resources for children.
Our Belief – is every child deserves a future and their lives, voices and future potential should be fiercely protected at all costs.
Our Vision – is a world in which every child attains the right to survival, protection, development and participation.
Our Mission – is to inspire breakthroughs in the way the world treats children and to achieve immediate and lasting change in their lives.
We operate programmes in:
Health and Nutrition : to reduce maternal and newborn mortality and child malnutrition and advocate for improved health systems.
Food Security & Livelihoods : to strengthen resilience and sustainable livelihoods.
Child Protection : to keep children safe from violence, abuse, neglect and exploitation.
Child rights governance : to influence policy and legislation and support the participation of children and young persons in governance matters.
Education : to help young children access early education and to advocate for education reforms.
Adolescents & Youth : to ensure they realise their rights by giving them a voice and a platform to engage with their leaders.
Humanitarian response : to prepare communities for disasters, and support emergency relief efforts.
Localization : to increase the leadership and authority of local and national actors so they can best identify and address priorities within their communities for maximum impact, including how resources are used.
