We were sick of our noisy neighbours playing the piano so we complained – but their reply left us feeling awful

  • Martina Panchetti and her roommates had complained about the early piano playing
  • They received a cute response from their neighbors’ children, apologizing
  • The handwritten letter even included a batch of their national sweets

A couple of roommates who complained to their noisy neighbors about playing the piano early in the morning felt terrible after receiving a heartwarming response.

Martina Panchetti and her friends asked the family next door if their kids couldn’t make so much noise on the weekends, only to receive a cute written apology and a gift of delicious baked sweets in response.

The letter was shared by Martina op TikTok, which states: ‘We have sent a letter to our neighbors politely asking them to make less noise (they are a family with children) and possibly not play the piano too early in the morning. This is how they answered…

It involved an image of an envelope held together with a smiley face sticker and then a letter explaining that even the children’s mother was on her neighbors’ side.

It read: ‘Dear neighbors. Thank you for your kind message. We realize that we can be loud and mischievous at times.’

‘We started learning piano and our teachers tell us to practice every day, but we sincerely apologize if we don’t take into account the times of day and weekends.

‘To be honest, mom tells us not to play in the morning and that she wants to sleep in on the weekends too.

“We promise YOU and we promise our mother that they will try to be more considerate.

‘Please accept our national Azeri sweets as a token of apology! Ps not nut-free!’

To add to the cuteness, the kids signed off as “your loud neighbors,” while Martina mimed crying.

Martina then showed off her neighbors’ Azerbaijani sweet treats: pakhlava, a pastry with nuts and syrup, and shekerbura, a sweet pastry filled with ground nuts and sugar.

“We are in tears,” the overwhelmed recipient added.

Martina’s video has been viewed more than three million times on TikTok, but she didn’t stop there.

After some comments suggested that Martina and her friends were the real bad neighbors in this scenario, she posted a follow-up post.

She began the segment: “For all the people who say I’m the bad neighbor for complaining about kids making noise, our letter was very polite and very kind. We weren’t complaining about noise in general – it was specifically about piano playing. early in the morning, on the weekend.”

She explained that she and her friends even enjoy hearing their neighbors practice piano during more convivial hours.

Martina said that in line with what many responses suggested in her situation, she and her roommates decided to send some treats themselves.

The group made a box of Zeppola di San Giuseppe, an Italian treat traditionally made for Father’s Day.

They also decorated the box with cute drawings and delivered it with a response letter for the children and a photo of the group.

“The children were so ashamed, they hid behind their father,” Martina revealed.

It seems that the saga has resulted in an ‘endless exchange’.

Martina ended by saying that she and her boyfriend went out after her apartment gifted them Italian pastries.

While they were away, Martina received a message from the apartment saying they had been given sushi by the neighbors because they had ‘ordered too much’.

“What a coincidence,” Martina joked.
