Musicians are looking at winning big in case a proposal by the MCSK goes through, and is made into law. The society seeks to see musician’s benefit from their music being played in rallies. The total amounts to be paid will vary from every level. The Presidential candidates will pay more as twh figure subsides going lower.Television and radio station’s will also pay a percentage of their gross revenue depending on their music consumption. Presidential candidate’s, gubernatorial, senatorial, woman representatives, member’s of parliament aspirant’s and even the MCA’s will be required to have licences at a flat rate from the government for a whole year.
The Presidential aspirant’s will pay 400, 000 shs for a year in order to play music, gubernatorial aspirant’s will pay 150, 000shs, senate aspirant’s to pay 100, 000. Woman representative aspirant’s will be required to pay 50, 000 while member’s of county assembly will pay 12, 500 shs.
It will now boil down as to how the money will be shared among them, or knowing which musician’s had their songs played in rallies.
