Kyle Chalmers has admitted he regrets every tattoo on his body.

But despite the admission, the Olympic swimmer, 25, has spoken about the importance certain inked pieces have for him in a conversation with the Daily telegram.

Two of his many tattoos are references to the South Australian city of Port Lincoln, which holds a very special place in Chalmers’ heart.

Here the swimming champion still regularly plays Aussie Rules football for his old club, Lincoln South.

In honor of the city, Chalmers has the postcode colored in on itself, as well as the image of ‘the Port Lincoln Tuna on my leg’.

However, the world record holder said if he could go back in time, she would run out of ink.

“I regret it all,” he told the publication.

“If I had my time again I probably wouldn’t have one, but now I’m so deep into it that it’s just an addiction.”

Despite his regrets, Chalmers said he has grown to love them and that there is a “very meaningful” story behind each piece.

The sports star has what he describes as numerous ‘raw’ tattoos on his legs, including those of Snoop Dogg, Freddie Mercury, his brother’s birth year and the postcode of Port Lincoln (5606), where he was born.

His most recent tattoo is of a Port Lincoln tuna, which is also on his paw.

Last year, Kyle was involved in a ‘love triangle’ with his ex-girlfriend Emma McKeon and fellow Team Australia member Cody Simpson.

Emma and Cody went ‘Instagram official’ with their relationship in July last year, three months after they started dating in secret.

It was claimed at the time that Kyle had blocked Cody’s entry into the Australian Dolphins ranks for the World Championships in Hungary after learning of their relationship.

Kyle originally made the decision not to travel to Hungary for the match, but returned after his ex’s relationship with Cody became public.

However, he vehemently denied any suggestion that the move was due to a personal vendetta against the former pop star.

Cody later got a ‘one up’ for Kyle when he was named on the ten-man shortlist for the GQ Sportsman of the Year award, while Kyle missed out on the award.

The musician and swimmer hopes to make his Olympic dream come true in Paris in 2024.

Cody and his Olympian girlfriend Emma McKeon (right) recently celebrated their one-year anniversary. Days after going public, the pair became embroiled in a 'love triangle' with Emma's ex-boyfriend and fellow Team Australia member Kyle Chalmers.
