The lifeless body of a Thai woman was found on Dawulun Mountain in Keelung City, Taiwan. Police and the victim’s family suspect her Thai employer of murdering the woman.
ETtoday and United Daily News reported the death of the 32 year old Thai woman, Sutthida Saensaeng, yesterday, May 12. Sutthida’s body was found in the forest of Dawulun Mountain with stab wounds to her hands and feet. It appears she was pushed down a hill, 10 metres away from the main road.
According to local police, Sutthida entered Taiwan two months ago on a tourist visa and was working illegally.
According to ThaiRath, Sutthida’s family disclosed that she had two sons but had divorced her ex-husband.
Following this, she ventured to work in Taiwan with plans to return home upon the expiry of her tourist visa. However, enticed by the higher wages, she opted to prolong her stay in Taiwan.
Her family shared that she initially worked in a massage parlour before transitioning to a role as a maid in the residence of a Taiwanese man married to a Thai woman. Allegedly, she voiced grievances to her family about being overworked and mistreated.
Prior to her demise, Sutthida sent a text message to her Thai boyfriend in Taiwan around 11pm on May 10, stating that her Thai employer was coercing her to accompany them to Dawulun Mountain. Despite her boyfriend’s attempts to reach her, all efforts were in vain, prompting him to report her disappearance to the police in Hualien City.
Employers suspected
Officers coordinated with police in Keelung City to search the mountain. However, police told her boyfriend that they had not found Sutthida and had seen nothing suspicious.
Sutthida’a boyfriend refused to give up and went to the scene with his Thai friends. They finally found Sutthida’s lifeless body on the morning of May 11. Her boyfriend was reportedly too shocked to give the police any further information about Sutthida.
A thorough investigation revealed bloodstains and drag marks on the main road, suggesting murder. Officials said her stab wounds were not fatal but police believe she bled to death after being pushed down the hill.
Security footage showed Sutthida’s female employer taking her to the mountain on a motorcycle, making her the prime suspect. She is currently being questioned by police.
According to ThaiRath, Sutthida’s aunt, 59 year old Duangporn Changlek, voiced her suspicion that the Thai employer was responsible for the crime. Sutthida had previously confided in Duangporn that her Thai employer instructed her to launder their underwear and restricted her from eating.
Sutthida expressed her frustration by kicking a water bucket in front of her Thai employer, a potential motive for the crime. Additionally, she informed her family that her employer had taken her to the mountain.
Duangporn said Sutthida’s oldest son aged 14 year old cried hard when he heard the tragic news. She said she felt sorry for her grandchildren for losing their mother and hoped the Taiwanese police would bring the killers to justice.
