Four people have been injured after a four-car crash during rush hour in Brisbane.

The crash happened around 8:30 a.m. Monday on the Story Bridge, with five lanes already closed.

A Queensland Ambulance spokesman confirmed two patients had been taken to hospital in a stable condition.

The crash happened about 8.30am on Monday at Story Bridge in Brisbane, with five lanes now closed.

Two others were assessed at the scene but did not require further treatment.

Police have asked motorists to avoid the area with only one lane open in each direction.

Traffic is blocked for miles as debris from the crash can be seen scattered across the bridge.

Significant delays are expected throughout the morning.
