Martin Scorsese seems to be taking a different approach to promoting Killers of the Flower Moon.

His daughter, Francesca Scorsese, recently shared a hilarious new TikTok of her and her father’s shenanigans, but in this one, she challenged the famed filmmaker to guess the meaning behind popular slang terms, from “ick” to “sneaky link.”

“Ick, he clapped when the plane landed and it gave me the ick,” Francesca said in the video, which was posted yesterday (Oct. 5). Their voices were distorted using a popular effect on TikTok.

That was an easy one for Martin, who correctly guessed, “You were thoroughly repulsed by it.”

The Scorseses later paid their respects to Killers of the Flower Moon star Lily Gladstone. “‘Ate’: Lily Gladstone ate in Killers of the Flower Moon,” Francesca told her father.

“Ate? Oh, like consumed the screen,” Martin answered. “They used to say ruled, is that [the same]?”

Francesca clarified, “Like, she did really, really well,” to which Martin agreed.

The video went on to include a few hilarious moments. Francesca later told her father, “King of Comedy was slept on,” sparking a brief but pointed rant from the filmmaker.

“People hated it when it came out,” Martin told the camera. “It was the flop of the year. That’s what it was called on Entertainment Tonight on New Years Eve, ’83 to’84.”

“Sneaky Link,” which means a secret intimate relationship, was a bit more difficult for Martin to guess. He guessed it meant “personal pecadillos that you may have” or “things that you want people to know about.”

When Francesca clarified that it basically meant a “booty call,” Martin replied, “Oh really? I didn’t get that. We never saw specific people in my day.”

Francesca regularly shares vlogs from their life at home, showing a different side of the Taxi Driver director. Francesca has also followed in her father’s path; she recently finished a degree at NYU’s Tisch School of Arts and debuted a short film at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival.

“He lowkey slayed,” she captioned the video.

Fans in the comments of her TikTok agreed. “Can’t believe we live in a world where I get to watch Martin Scorsese become familiar with the word sneaky link. Blessings,” someone commented.

“He served I fear,” another user wrote. “I cannot believe I exist in a timeline where I can watch Martin Scorsese film TikToks.”
