For decades, VoK/KBC was the “Baba na Mama” of broadcasting and virtually all top radio and TV personalities you got to know in the 60s, 70s, 80s and in the 90s shaped their careers at Broadcasting House.

On Saturday at Freds Ranch Isinya, those boys and girls of yesterday gathered there for a Reunion like no other.The Guest Rhumba artists for the day were Les Wanyika Band of Sina Makosa & Afro wa Sagana fame.

During the reign of president Daniel arap Moi , KBC was the the government’s mouthpiece.Each broadcaster opened with a piece on what the president had been doing in that day.

At the time of president, Mwai Kibaki, KBC became more objective.The station helped most of Kenya’s famous journalists especially before the airwaves were liberated in Kenya.
