Several hundred agitated Pro-Palestinian protesters sat in the streets Thursday to block President Joe Biden’s motorcade between the White House and the Capitol for his State of the Union address.

A huge Palestinian flag was unfurled on the street as demonstrators sat and stood around it. Others held a banner with the message: “Biden’s legacy is genocide.”

The protesters held megaphones, carried “ceasefire” signs and wore black shirts with the message that Biden would crack down on Israel.

They were surrounded on all sides by law enforcement officers as police helicopters circled Washington DC

The stand is mainly symbolic, as there are many routes that can lead from the White House to the Capitol to avoid the protesters.

Meanwhile, down the street, another group of pro-Palestinian protesters stood outside Capitol Hill’s Republican watering hole Bullfeathers and chanted at staffers dining and drinking ahead of the State of the Union.

‘Staffs, staffers you can’t hide! We accuse you of genocide,” they shouted at Hill employees, demanding they “quit your jobs.”

‘Look for work!’ Republican House staffers shouted back at the protesters who interrupted their evening.

Biden is expected to leave the White House soon for a quick trip to the Capitol for his third State of the Union address before a joint session of Congress.

But the protesters are sitting and marching in the middle of Pennsylvania Avenue, on the route between the White House and the Capitol.

“When I say genocide, you say Joe,” a protester with a horn started the call-and-response chant.

Progressive and pro-Palestinian factions of the Democratic Party are highly critical of Biden’s handling of the war between Israel and Gaza after Hamas terrorists attacked the Jewish state in October.

Republicans – and many Democrats – agree that Israel has the right to defend itself against the region’s terrorists. But progressives and Arab Americans have a growing sentiment that Israel is committing a “genocide” against the Palestinian people.

Biden has supported Israel but has recently faced criticism for that position. During Michigan’s Democratic presidential primaries last month, more than 101,000 voters cast “voluntary” ballots in protest of Biden’s continued candidacy after he supported the Jewish state in its war against Hamas terrorists.

They are especially angry with Biden who supports sending aid to Israel.

Meanwhile, to salvage some of his favor with progressives, Biden will announce that the US military is building a temporary floating port off the coast of Gaza to more easily send humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people.

Hamas launched its attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, carrying out the largest single-day massacre of Jewish people since the Holocaust.

Thursday marks the five-month war between Israel and Hamas that began that day in October.

But protesters in the US are unhappy that the US is siding with ally Israel and are convinced that the Jewish State is carrying out unsolicited attacks and ethnic cleansing on the Palestinian people.

Israel claims it is defending itself against Hamas and terrorists operating from Palestinian enclaves who want Jews wiped off the face of the earth.
