Christian McCaffrey’s fiancée Olivia Culpo has surprised his mother by buying them a luxury suite for her birthday during next week’s Super Bowl.

McCaffrey is the star of the San Francisco 49ers, who will face Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs next Sunday in Las Vegas.

Lisa McCaffrey had previously claimed on her podcast that even her NFL star son and Culpo couldn’t afford a suite at the Super Bowl this year due to the astronomical prices.

It is believed that players will receive two free tickets to the Super Bowl, after which another thirteen will be offered for sale at face value.

There were only a handful of suites left for sale at the game on Friday morning.

The cheapest costs $300,000 and contains just four tickets, while another is available for $420,000 with eight tickets. But for the suite with twenty tickets you have to cough up a whopping $2.5 million.

It remains to be seen how much Culpo gushed, but she responded to an Instagram post with quotes from Lisa.

In response, the former Miss Universe wrote: ‘fake news! Happy birthday Lisa. I bought you a suite.”

McCaffrey is expected to make $11.8 million in 2024 and $12 million in 2025 as part of the contract he signed with the 49ers when he came over from the Carolina Panthers in 2022.

Despite, on her “Your Mom” podcast Lisa McCaffrey claimed the couple was priced out of a suite.

She said: ‘We looked at a suite and none of us can afford it. Not even Christian, moneybags there – and not moneybags Olivia either.

“So we’re not in a suite, I’ll tell you that straight away.”

McCaffrey’s mother is married to former 49ers wide receiver Ed McCaffrey, who won the Super Bowl three times.

If Christian can win it with the 49ers, they will become only the second father and son in NFL history to win a Super Bowl with the same franchise.

McCaffrey and his family would still have had to spend a fair amount of money, even on regular tickets to the game.

Tickets on at least one secondary market site were the most expensive Super Bowl history on Monday.

The average purchase price on TickPick was $9,815 as of Monday morning.

That’s nearly double the final average price of $5,795 for last year’s game between the Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles in Glendale, Arizona, although current prices could drop.

It’s also more than the previous high of $7,046 for the 2021 game in Tampa, Florida, between the Buccaneers and Chiefs. The stadium was at 33 percent capacity due to Covid-19 restrictions, increasing demand for each ticket.

TickPick’s highest non-Covid Super Bowl came in 2020 in Miami Gardens, Florida, when the Chiefs and Niners met for the first time in the championship game. That average price was $6,370.

The cheapest ticket on TickPick for this year’s game was $8,188 on Monday, up from the low price of $5,997 at this time last year.

StubHub experienced similar demand, with the average price for tickets sold Monday at $9,300, though that’s down from the Super Bowl two years ago.

The average at the same time was $9,797 for the game in Inglewood, California, as the hometown Los Angeles Rams prepared to play the Cincinnati Bengals.

The lowest priced ticket on StubHub for this year’s game was $6,500.
