VIDEO: On SNL jokes, Timothée Chalamet claims to be in a band named Hamas: “Dude I’m not sharing a song by Hamas on Instagram”

In an SNL joke, Timothée Chalamet mentions that he is in a band named Hamas, saying, “Dude I’m not sharing a song by Hamas on Instagram”

In a skit, Timothée Chalamet claims to be in a band named Hamas. A member of the band “Please Don’t Destroy” then clarifies that he is not in a band with the same name. SNL makes a joke about Hamas.

“Dude, I’m not posting a Hamas song on Instagram.”

However, there’s a cunning reveal: In order to comment on the candidates, Donald Trump (James Austin Johnson) freezes the screen in the style of Zack Morris or Ferris Bueller. “Stuck on stage while I cook.” He recognizes the obvious: Ego Nwodim playing Vivek Ramaswamy is deeply off-putting. At first, I thought this was a lame and desperate casting by the show — turns out that is the point! It’s meta, but I like the show holding its own mirror up, especially regarding these (generally) bad political cold opens.

The 27-year-old actor headlined the fourth installment of the long-running sketch comedy show’s 49th season, which happened to be the first episode of the program to air after the end of the SAG-AFTRA strike.

The performer, whose appearance was promoted by Kylie Jenner’s mother Kris Jenner, began his time on the program by speaking about how Lorne Michaels ‘kept calling me Winona’ during his first time hosting the program.

Chalamet then promoted the upcoming release of his fantasy drama Wonka, and quipped that his costar, Hugh Grant, had ‘that oompa loompa dump truck.’

The performer was joined by Marcello Hernandez, and the the two rapped about having a ‘baby face, but I’m hung like my dad.’

The first sketch of the show took place at the Museum of Hip Hop, during which Chalamet portrayed pink-haired rapper Smokecheddadaa**getta.

During a panel conversation, which also included Mary J. Blige, Rick Rubin and Cornel West, the performer asked: ‘So when they discover hip hop? Like 2014?’

When the group began discussing how much of hip-hop came from trauma, the performer quipped: ‘My dad made me get braces. I wanted Invisalign. Life crazy.’

He then sent a tribute to his friend Gap, who was forced to ‘lay low in Turkey’ after fundraising for New York City mayor Eric Adams.

Smokecheddaa**getta also spoke about how his newest track was a condemnation of ‘capalism,’ as ‘everybody be capping all the time.’ But wait, there’s a clever reveal: Donald Trump (James Austin Johnson) freezes the screen a la Ferris Bueller or Zack Morris to comment on the candidates. “Stuck on stage while I cook.” He acknowledges the obvious: Ego Nwodim playing Vivek Ramaswamy is deeply off-putting. At first, I thought this was a lame and desperate casting by the show — turns out that is the point!
