Max George recalls how his late The Wanted bandmate Tom Parker gave Maisie Smith the seal of approval before their romance even began.
The 35-year-old singer said Tom, who died aged 33 in March 2022, said his current girlfriend Maisie was ‘really cute’ on her first night of Strictly Come Dancing.
Max, who was dating Stacey Giggs at the time, revealed during the 2020 competition that Tom was a fan of 22-year-old Maisie.
Max told New Magazine: ‘When Maisie was on Strictly on the very first night, Tom said: “The girl from EastEnders is quite cute, isn’t she?”
‘I replied, “She’s a really nice mate, she’s beautiful”.’

Maisie took part in the 18th series of Strictly alongside Gorka Marquez and reached the final before missing out on Bill Bailey.
Max, meanwhile, teamed up with Dianne Buswell and went out in week four of the competition.
He split from Stacey on August 22. Max and Maisie fell in love after taking part in the Strictly Come Dancing tour together in 2022.
They have been inseparable ever since and are now building a house together in Manchester.
Maisie appeared in this year’s celebrity edition of The Chase, where Max pretended to propose to her.
Since then, she has not appeared on television and has not announced if she has any projects due to the broadcast.
However, she posted a video of herself in August with the caption “personal audition… been a while.”

Knowing that Tom would approve of Maisie means a lot to Max as he was left distraught after losing his boyfriend last year.
Tom was diagnosed with stage 4 glioblastoma in October 2020 and was given only 12 months to live by doctors.
In September 2021, 11 months after diagnosis, Tom sang at the Stand Up 2 Cancer show at the Royal Albert Hall and even embarked on a Greatest Hits tour with his bandmates when the tumor was confirmed to be ‘stable’ in November .
Tom is survived by his wife Kelsey, 33, along with their two children, Aurelia, three, and Bodhi, two.
