Marie Osmond ventures into daytime TV with ‘The Bold and the Beautiful’

Marie Osmond, renowned for her singing prowess, is set to add an additional feather to her cap as she ventures into daytime television. Osmond will be seen portraying the character of the shrewd Countess Von Frankfurt on the popular soap opera “The Bold and the Beautiful”, beginning Friday, October 17.

The narrative arc of the show will also introduce characters from its CBS counterpart, “The Young and the Restless.” The Countess, a character with a distinct air of haughtiness, hails from Milan, as Osmond disclosed in an interview with The Post.

The storyline sees the Countess travelling from Milan to Los Angeles to explore the Forrester Couture Collection, where she is a long-standing client. The plot also includes the arrival of Lauren (portrayed by Tracy Bergman from “The Young and the Restless”) from Genoa City, accompanied by Esther Valentine (Kate Linder, “Y&R”), who harbours a long-standing dream of owning a Forrester Creations original.

Another interesting element in the upcoming episodes includes Taylor Hale’s return to “The Bold and the Beautiful” and Alexis Gaube’s appearance as fashion show models, commencing October 30.

Osmond and Brad Bell, the head writer and executive producer of “B&B”, share a history of friendship. Their past discussions about having Osmond on the show have finally come to fruition, as Osmond revealed. She also shared her admiration for Bell’s father, William Bell, the creator of “The Young and the Restless.”

Osmond’s demanding schedule during her 11-year Las Vegas residency made it challenging for her to find time for additional roles. However, when the opportunity arose for her to be part of a significant fashion show storyline involving both “B&B” and “Y&R”, she readily agreed. The character of the Countess was quickly crafted by Bell, providing Osmond with an exciting and fun role.

In spite of the gruelling schedule, with filming commencing at 5 a.m. and wrapping up around midnight, Osmond completed all her scenes within a single day. Drawing parallels with her own experiences as a child performer, she expressed her admiration for soap actors who are known for their hard work and professionalism.

Osmond’s foray into daytime television marks another achievement on her list of life goals. Always eager for the next adventure, she shared her love for sculpting, which she did for 20 years for her line of dolls. The fluidity of forming something from clay fascinates her. She also expressed her desire to try her hand at glass blowing, a craft she was introduced to during a visit to a glass factory in Sweden at the age of 7. With the same artistic passion, she now looks forward to producing a beautiful piece in the challenging environment of a 200-degree room.
