‘It’s time to undo it all and return to reality. All those things you used to think were cool. . . it’s time to get healthy.’

During his ‘health journey’ he cut down on drinking and stopped taking drugs, and now he gets up at 4am every day.

Liam told the publication: ‘As you get older, life is precious, you know what I mean? I’m a pretty cheerful guy. I like waking up early in the morning.

‘But I’m definitely in a downward spiral. But we’re all going to die, aren’t we?’

Speaking about his hip problems last year he said: ‘My hips are fucked, I have arthritis, bad.

“I went to get it checked out and my bones are shattered. The lady said, ‘Oh, maybe you need hip surgery, a replacement.’

He said at the time that he did not want the operation because of the ‘stigma’.

‘I think I’d rather just be in pain. Which is obviously ridiculous. I know that. Just have them repaired. But it’s the stigma of saying your hips have been replaced. What’s next?’

‘I can’t sleep at night because of the pain. Tossing and turning. So I take herbal sleeping tablets and they have saved my life. One of them, seven hours on the road, no pain, nothing.

‘My new thing is Deep Heat. I caked myself in it on my knees and hips, on my calves, and then into the steam room for as long as I could handle it.”

Liam, a keen jogger, was told by doctors to cut back on running to control the condition.

In the interview, he also talked about his psoriasis and said he once met a fan who thought he had cocaine in his hair, but it was actually bits of skin from his itchy scalp.

He said: ‘I have psoriasis so obviously I had been scratching it all day and there were little white bits and stuff. They took it out of my hair, put it on their gums and shoved it up their damn nose!’

On Twitter last February, he said of his hip surgery: ‘Morning Rastas, so I had my hip surgery last week (week), everything went well and RESPEK (respect) to all the doctors and nurses who took care of me. Big shout out to the A team that gets us home safely.

‘You know who you are and Florence guru. I love and adore you Riverdance here I come LG x’.

A fan asked: ‘Hope the surgery hasn’t affected your swagger!!’.

Only for Liam to quickly reply: ‘I’m having my physio study old videos of my walk so we don’t miss a trick. The comeback is real.”

Liam is currently touring the UK alongside John Squire following the release of the duo’s new album.

He is engaged to his fiance Debbie Gwyther.

WHAT IS PSORIASIS?

Psoriasis is an autoimmune disease that affects the skin and sometimes the joints.

About two percent of people in the US and Britain suffer from the condition.

Psoriasis occurs when a person’s skin replacement process occurs within a few days instead of the usual 21 to 28 days.

The buildup of skin cells builds up and forms raised plaques, which can be flaky, scaly and itchy.

Psoriasis arthritis can occur in the joints near the affected skin, causing them to become tender, swollen, and stiff.

Anyone can suffer from it, but psoriasis is more common in people from their late teens to early thirties or between the ages of 50 and 60.

The cause of psoriasis is unclear. Flare-ups can be caused by stress, skin injuries, hormonal changes and certain medications.

It is not contagious and there is no cure.

Treatment focuses on managing symptoms through topical creams, gels, and medications.

Liam and Debbie started dating in 2013, and he moved in with her, although he only divorced his first wife Nicola Appleton the following year.

The couple were due to tie the knot in May last year, but they had to postpone it after Liam underwent double hip surgery.

Despite having already booked their big day on the shores of Lake Como, the couple decided to turn the trip into a family vacation amid the rocker’s path to recovery.

A source said The sun at the time: ‘The wedding was supposed to take place last month, but in the weeks before that Liam and Debbie decided to postpone it.

‘Liam is still recovering from his hip operation and wants to be in top form when he says I’m doing it for the third time.

‘They were joined by his sons Gene and Lennon and his daughter Molly and enjoyed a relaxing break.’

Liam has been married twice: firstly to actress Patsy Kensit and secondly to All Saints singer Nicola Appleton.

The former Oasis frontman has four children: sons Lennon, 24, and Gene, 22, with Patsy and Nicola respectively, and Molly, 25, from an affair with Lisa Moorish while he was married to Patsy, and Gemma, 10, from a affair with Liza Ghorbani while he was married to Nicola.

Meanwhile, Liam and Stone Roses guitarist John are currently touring Britain following the release of their joint self-titled album.

Liam revealed how they came to work together during an appearance on The Jonathan Ross Show earlier this month, explaining: ‘Down Knebworth, John came down at the end to play on one of the tunes.

“So during the rehearsals leading up to it, I hadn’t seen him in ages, so I said, ‘What have you been up to?’ and he said, ‘I wrote some tunes.’ I said, ‘Who sings them?’ and he said, ‘Well, you are.’ And I’d have a year off and everything, you know. what I mean? So it’s his fault.’

When asked who was his first choice for the songs, Liam told John: ‘You were looking for a girl, weren’t you? And then you ended up with this kind’. John jokes: ‘Yes, I need new management!’

Explaining why they wanted to work together, John said: ‘We know each other’s music knowledge inside and out, I knew we would always stay on the same page.’

Liam admitted that John was one of the reasons he wanted to start his own band: “I was always inspired by John’s band, you know what I mean? His was the first band I ever went to see, The (Stone) Roses.

“I was 15, 16 and that was it, it changed my life,” he said, adding that afterward he knew, “All I have to do now is learn to sing.”

When The Stone Roses ended, John said, “I think I continued writing songs, actually got another band together, The Seahorses, and then had a lot of kids.”
