He was schizophrenic and police are treating the horrific attack as mental health related.

His distraught family are said to have frantically contacted police amid concerns their son was involved in yesterday’s Bondi attack, News Corp Australia reports.

Now new details are beginning to emerge about Cauchi’s life and movements leading up to the devastating massacre.

Cauchi, who is from Queensland but has moved to Sydney in recent months, has listed herself on several male escort websites including Australia Cracker, Empire Escorts and Escorts Australia.

All websites allow users to upload their own photos and request their own sexual services.

In his biography, Cauchi described himself as an ‘athletically handsome 39-year-old’ based in Sydney who was looking for a ‘good time’.

He offered dozens of “closed door services” that are too graphic to publish.

The profiles, which were created around June 2023, were visible on the websites on Sunday morning, but were later removed.

The revelation comes as new footage emerges showing Cauchi buying his last meal – a red chicken curry – at Bondi Junction’s Saigon Noodle at around 12.22pm on Saturday – just three hours before his stabbing.

Imagery obtained by The Australian shows Cauchi handing money to a cashier as she gives him a table number, before walking away and taking a seat in the restaurant.

Queensland health authorities also revealed Cauchi was diagnosed with schizophrenia in 2000, the year he graduated from Harristown State High School.

Addressing the media just after 1pm on Sunday, Commissioner Roger Lowe of the Queensland Police Service Security and Counter-Terrorism Command said officers had been with the family since last night to break the news and gather information for their investigation.

“As the family has been cooperating with Queensland Police in this regard, we are issuing a statement on their behalf regarding their own condolences and thoughts to the family and friends of the victims involved in this tragedy,” he said. .

Police were called to Bondi Junction Westfield at 3.20pm on Saturday when a horrific stabbing took place in the busy shopping center on the first day of the school holidays.

Footage posted online shows terrified shoppers running through the city center and taking shelter in shops as Cauchi chases men, women and children brandishing the knife.

Inspector Amy Scott was patrolling the area and was the first on the scene. She entered the shopping center alone and bravely ran towards the perpetrator before shooting him dead when he came towards her with the knife.

Five other people – including four women aged between 20 and 55, and a man in his 30s – who were at the center died at the scene. They have yet to be formally identified.

Twelve others – including nine women, two men and a nine-month-old child – suffered stab wounds and were treated by paramedics and taken to various hospitals in Sydney.

“Can I just say how proud we are of the actions of the officer involved,” he said.

“She’s getting all the support she needs.”

The mall and surrounding streets will remain closed on Sunday as police continue to search the crime scene for forensic evidence.
