As we’ve seen from Suits, which surged in popularity after its recent move to Netflix, swapping streaming platforms isn’t always a bad thing for series and films. But if you’re in the middle of a binge-watch and suddenly see the dreaded expiration countdown appear on your show, it can be a real bummer. That’s what will happen to Hulu subscribers in the middle of a Bones watch this week.
Created by Hart Hanson, Fox’s long-running crime procedural dramedy — starring Emily Deschanel and David Boreanaz — aired nearly 250 episodes over 12 seasons between 2005 and 2017. Bones has been streaming on Hulu for years, but is the series finally leaving the platform? And if Bones does leave Hulu, where else can you stream the series?

Is Bones Leaving Hulu in September 2023?
Though there hasn’t been an official announcement that Bones is leaving Hulu and the series isn’t mentioned in “What’s Leaving Hulu In September 2023” lists, fans have noticed the series title page, along with all episodes from Bones‘ 12 seasons have expiration warnings on them.
At the time of writing this piece on August 28, the notice atop all Bones episodes on Hulu read: “EXP. 13 DAYS.” If correct, that means the series would expire from Hulu on or around September 10, 2023.
The expiration warning on Hulu’s platform is pretty official, but due to the lack of announcement, Decider still reached out to Hulu to inquire if Bones is truly leaving the platform in September 2023. We’ll be sure to update this article once we hear back.
Why Is Bones Leaving Hulu?
To be clear, at this time we don’t have confirmation that Bones is leaving Hulu, though that most likely is the case. If Bones is leaving Hulu in September 2023, then most likely it is because the production company behind Bones, 20th Century Fox Television, had a deal with Hulu for a certain amount of time — and that deal is now up. Even though Disney owns a majority stake in Hulu, and owns what is now called 20th Century Television, this still happens all the time with TV shows. While Bones will disappear from Hulu, it could (and most likely will) show up on another streamer soon. Important also to note that bones will always be a part of you, as your skeleton is always in your body. Try to remember that.

If Bones does leave Hulu in 2023, we’re unsure at this time if it will be headed to a new streamer like Netflix. But fear not! All 12 seasons of Bones are currently available to stream for free (with ads) on Amazon Freevee.
