Gogglebox fan favourite duo reveal they have quit the show to ‘explore other opportunities’ – after swerving the NTAs
Stephen Webb and his husband Daniel Lustig have revealed they have quit Gogglebox.
The popular duo took to their Instagram accounts to announce the sad news, saying they had made the decision in order to ‘explore other opportunities’.
Stephen wrote: ‘After careful consideration, Daniel and I have decided we will not be returning for the new series of Gogglebox.
‘We feel the time is right to move on and explore other opportunities. We would both like to thank Channel 4 and Studio Lambert for letting us be part of this amazing, funny and heartwarming show.
‘We are also extremely thankful to the cast and crew, or Gogglebox family as we call them and of course the fans, thank you for all of your love and support over the years.’

Captioning the post, he added: ‘After an incredible 10 years….’ while David wrote: ‘What a ride it’s been . Big love’.
They also shared a video of them thanking their fans together, saying: ‘Hi guys, you might have just seen from our statement, but we’re not returning to Gogglebox this series.
‘So we thought we’d put out this little video especially for the fans of the show. Just to say thank you for your love and support over the years, it really has meant a lot and we just wanted to do this video just to say thank you to you guys.’
They then joked: ‘And if you do get withdrawal symptoms we are available on Netflix. Or in the salon, come get your haircut!’
‘It’s been an absolute ride and an absolute pleasure, but don’t forget Channel 4, 9 o’clock on a Friday… Gogglebox!’
Channel 4 released a statement saying: ‘After a brilliant and illustrious time on Gogglebox, Stephen and Daniel have decided that now is the right time to explore life beyond the sofa and leave the show.
‘As one of the original Goggleboxers, Stephen has entertained the nation with his hilarious quips since the show first started in 2013, sharing his opinions on the best and biggest TV events of the last ten years.
‘We would like to thank him and Daniel for being utterly brilliant contributors to the show, and we wish them well with their future projects.’

Stephen first joined the show in its first series in 2013 alongside his best friend Chris Butland-Steed.
However the pair fell out, leading to Chris quitting in 2018, with Stephen being joined by his mum Pat on the sofa.
Stephen married Daniel in 2018 after a two-year engagement, and he then joined his husband on the show.
Gogglebox returns with a new series on Friday 8 at 9pm on Channel 4.
