Admiring an old photo of him and Sherry (Christine Evangelista), Dwight had a flashback of Daryl Dixon sparing his life and telling him, “Go outside, and you’ll make it right.”

He cut a piece of wood until he saw a coughing man approaching and hid behind a door before pulling a gun on the intruder.

‘Do not shoot. Please,” the man said. “I thought the place was empty.”

The man said his name was Jay and told Dwight that he had been deprived of his insulin and could die because he had diabetes.

‘Are you kidding me? You expect me to believe this is some kind of coincidence?” Dwight said as he knocked Jay down. ‘Who told you? Who told you about me?’

Jay said he didn’t know and begged for help getting his week’s supply of insulin back.

Dwight asked if he knew where the guys who took his insulin were and Jay took him to the Sanctuary where Dwight had flashbacks of Negan.

He told Jay that the last time he tried to help someone get insulin, he ended up in the Sanctuary.

“My life has been hell since I stepped foot in there,” Dwight said, telling Jay he wouldn’t go back in there.

Jay gave an impassioned speech and Dwight agreed to pick up his insulin and meet him at home.

Dwight found the insulin, but was caught by a man who pointed a gun at him.

“Someone did a number on your face,” the man said when he noticed the burns on the side of Dwight’s face.

Dwight said he would run away and they would never see him again.

“You stole from us. Now an example must be made, starting with the other side of your face,” the man said.

Borrowing a move from Negan, Dwight threw the man into the fiery furnace and closed the doors before escaping.

‘Yes Yes! Jay! Where are you! Hi. Hi. I understood! Jay!’ Dwight shouted as he returned to the house.

Jay then came out as a zombie and Dwight was forced to stab him in the head.

Dwight then lost it on the porch.

“You should have killed me when you…I tried to make it up to you, Daryl. But I guess I couldn’t. You should have killed me when you had the chance, Daryl. You should have just killed me when you had the chance!” Dwight shouted. ‘Please, please, come and do it right now! Please! Come on!’

A vehicle then pulled up in miraculous timing, with Sherry and June Dorie (Jenna Elfman) seeking Dwight’s help in their battle against Troy.

Sherry begged Dwight to help them save PADRE because the children he trained trust him.

Dove was with June and Dorie and told Dwight that PADRE was her only home and without it she has nothing.

‘Look. I can’t help save those children. I couldn’t even save my own son,” Dwight said.

Sherry said she was there for their son Finch, hoping something good would come from something bad.

“What do you think Finch would say if he knew his father was running away from children who needed protection?” Sherry asked.

“It’s not because I don’t care about them. It’s because I do,” Dwight said.

Dove went missing, but drove back in a truck with a gunshot wound.

June noticed there was no exit wound and Dove said she was attacked by people looking for someone who had burned their friend.

A group of armed men then approached and Marty offered to help Dove provide medical supplies in exchange for Dwight.

“Nice try, a**hole,” Sherry said as she opened fire on the men.

Sherry decided they needed to drive to the shelter to get Dove the medical care she needed.

They drove back to the Sanctuary where Sherry had flashbacks of Negan.

June prepared Dove for surgery and Dove refused to let Dwight work on her after he failed to save his own son.

The Sanctuary’s structural integrity was threatened by zombies pounding on the walls and Dwight volunteered to clear them.

Sherry found out that Dwight was on a suicide mission and locked him in a room.

“You can’t give up like that,” Sherry told him.

Sherry instead tried to clear the walkers to stabilize the place and she was saved by Dwight after June let him out.

Marty and his men reached the Sanctuary, but the entire building collapsed when Dwight, Sherry, June and Dove were able to hide in an oven.

Zombie Phil bit Marty after Dwight grabbed an iron and hit him in the face.

June overcame her fears to perform the surgery and they all agreed to stay together when Dove declared that she went by her first name Odessa.

The episode ended on PADRE with Victor Strand (Colman Domingo) making way for Troy’s daughter Tracy Otto (Antonella Rose), who was blindfolded.

‘I’m going to help you. You’re going to help me,” Strand said.

“Help you with what?” she asked.

“Save PADRE,” Strand said.
