Ezra Miller’s role as District Attorney Sinclair in the animated Amazon Prime series Invincible has been quietly recast amid the troubled star’s numerous controversies from 2020.

The Flash star, 31 – who recently made a rare public appearance in Hollywood – notably voiced the character in the show’s first season.

However, Canadian voice actor Eric Bauza has now taken over the role for the second season The Hollywood Reporter.

Bauza is no stranger to the world of animation and is known for appearing in other projects such as The Adventures Of Puss In Boots and also Looney Tunes Cartoons.

The second season of Invincible aired late last year, in November 2023, and the finale will air next month on April 4.

DA Sinclair returned to the series this week in Thursday’s episode titled: I’m Not Going Anywhere.

Other stars voicing characters on the show include Steven Yeun, Sandra Oh, Zazie Beatz, JK Simmons, Mark Hamill, Seth Rogen, and also Zachary Quinto.

The premise is “based on the Skybound/Image comic about a teenager whose father is the most powerful superhero in the world,” an official said. IMDB summary.

Most recently, Miller — who uses they/their pronouns — had a leading role in the 2023 film The Flash, which bombed at the box office.

The film was called the “greatest superhero movie ever made” by James Gunn, but ultimately grossed around $270 million at the worldwide box office after earning just $55 million in its opening weekend.

There had been calls to recast Ezra in the DC film due to the actor’s various legal issues, but director Andy Muschietti defended keeping them in the film.

The filmmaker told it Weekly entertainment, “We have a lot of empathy in general for people who need help, and especially with mental health problems.”

“That is why they are taking the necessary steps to address their recovery, and we are supporting them in that.”

The controversies surrounding Ezra began in 2020 when a video allegedly showed Miller choking a woman while at a bar in Reykjavik, Iceland.

Two years later, they were arrested several times for assault and burglary, and were also accused of grooming children.

Ezra was accused of inappropriate behavior by the parents of 12-year-old non-binary child, Tokata Iron Eyes (now 20), and also claimed that the star had harassed the family.

That same year, they shared a statement apologizing and also revealed that they were receiving treatment for “complex mental health issues.”

“After recently going through a time of intense crisis, I now understand that I suffer from complex mental health issues and have begun ongoing treatment,” Miller’s representatives said, per Variety.

‘I would like to apologize to everyone for having been alarmed and angered by my past behaviour.’

Finally, Ezra added, “I am committed to doing the necessary work to return to a healthy, safe and productive phase of my life.”

Last June, a temporary protective order against Miller was revoked in the state of Massachusetts. At the time, Miller released a statement on their Instagram page indicating that the TPO was being disbanded.

They said: ‘Protective orders are not intended to be weaponized by those seeking attention or fleeting tabloid fame or some sort of personal revenge, when there are people who really and urgently need these services.’

“Protective orders are intended to provide safety to individuals, families and children who are in danger.”

The Perks Of Being A Wallflower star then added: ‘I have been wrongfully and directly targeted by an individual who the facts have shown has a history of such manipulative and destructive actions…’

Later in the statement, Miller said, “I want everyone to know that I continue to do my best to maintain my own well-being and do what I can to undo the collateral damage this ordeal has caused to me and those close to me.”

“Finally, to all of you many beings in this world who had the immense courage to see me through and come here to me.”

Miller was on his way to a burgeoning career before controversies came to light, such as starring opposite Logan Lerman and Emma Watson in The Perks Of Being A Wallflower (2012).

Last June, Miller appeared on the rare red carpet in Hollywood at the premiere of The Flash.

A month earlier, director Andy Muschietti revealed that Ezra could potentially reprise the role if there were a sequel to The Flash.

During an interview on The discourse podcast, the filmmaker said, “If there is (a sequel), yes, (Ezra would play The Flash). I don’t think there’s anyone who can play that character as well as she can.”
