Jessica Chastain, 46, is effortlessly chic wearing a plaid blazer and classic jeans as she enjoys an outing in New York City

Jessica Chastain showcased her chic sense of style as she enjoyed an outing in New York City on Thursday.

The Oscar winner, 46, who recently stunned in a plunging beaded gown at the Toronto International Film Festival, was seen holding a conversation on the phone as she quickly made her way through the bustling streets.

The star donned a plain, black T-shirt as well as a pair of classic, light blue jeans and layered her early fall ensemble with a white and black, plaid blazer.

She opted to leave the outer piece unfastened and slipped into a pair of black ankle boots that contained a small heel on the back.

Her reddish locks were parted to the side, and effortlessly flowed down naturally past her shoulders.

The mother of two easily slung a black, Burberry purse over her shoulder to hold a few items she needed during her busy outing in the Big Apple.

Jessica – who owns a townhouse in NYC with her family – chose to not add any flashy pieces of jewelry to her look, but threw on a pair of shades for a stylish flare.

The Interstellar actress was seen holding her smartphone up to her ear as she held a conversation, and was later seen waiting inside a subway station to head to her next destination.

Chastain has been keeping busy and recently returned to the U.S. after attending the Toronto International Film Festival to promote her latest project titled, Memory.

Alongside the actress, other stars that were cast in the movie included Peter Sarsgaard, Merritt Wever, Elsie Fisher, Josh Charles, and also Jessica Harper.

The film – which was directed by Michel Franco – follows Jessica’s character, Sylvia, ‘who leads a simple and structured life,’ which is ‘blown open when Saul (Sarsgaard) follows her home from their high school reunion,’ per an IMDB synopsis.

However, ‘Their surprise encounter will profoundly impact both of them as they open the door to the past.’

While attending the screening at TIFF earlier on Tuesday, Chastain wowed wearing a black, plunging gown that contained beaded material that dazzled under the bright lights.

The sides of the eye-catching ensemble contained diamond-shaped patterns that had various hues, such as blue, silver and green.

Her long locks were parted to the side, and cascaded down past her shoulders that curled into very light waves.

For a luxurious flare, Jessica added a rhinestone-covered, snake necklace but opted to not add any flashy earrings to the red carpet look.

During an interview with IndieWire, both the actress and director opened up about Memory, with Franco revealing that he had been told that Chastain would be a ‘nightmare and a diva’ after winning an Oscar.

‘We had the Oscars and I won for Tammy Faye. Right after that, I showed up on set to do Memory,’ she recalled. ‘Michel said that a lot of people told him, “Oh Jessica is going to leave your film because she just won an Oscar.”‘

He added, ‘Or that she is going to show up and be a nightmare and be a diva. I told them, you don’t know half of it. She’s the opposite. She’s going to show up satisfied, happy and be productive.’

Jessica explained, ‘I’m not doing a movie to be pampered. If I want to be pampered, I’ll go to a spa. I’m doing a film to work and to be creative. I don’t need to sit by myself in a trailer.’

The star had the chance to not only do her own hair for the film, but also was able to pick out her own wardrobe for her character as well.
