Busy Phillips spoke candidly about the financial burden celebrities face when preparing for red carpet appearances.

The 44 year old star spoke with Page six at the season three premiere of Girls5Eva and echoed Taraji P. Henson’s sentiments last December.

‘I have to work all the time. It’s so true. With hair and makeup and clothes and what it costs – Taraji P. Henson really talked about that – and I felt it so deeply because I look at the money that I’m supposedly making and it’s not just the bills, but what’s I’m expected to when I show up anywhere,” she explained.

Philips continued: ‘The film company or this production company is only going to pay for this percentage of your hair, make-up and wardrobe, so then you have to come up with the rest yourself.

“So then you’re a thousand dollars out of pocket and at the end of the day you’re like, ‘What am I doing?’ Sometimes I think I should just show a mess in one of these things as a protest.”

Months ago, while speaking with Gayle King on her Sirius XM show, Henson, 53, became emotional as she discussed details about pay in Hollywood.

‘I hear people say: ‘You work a lot.’ Well, I have to,” she said at the time.

‘Mathematics is not mathematics. If you work a lot, you have a team. What we do comes with big bills. We don’t do this alone. We have a whole team behind us. They need to get paid,” the Empire star explained.

Phillips noted that partnerships with Instagram brands have helped her supplement her acting income.

“I’m so grateful that I’ve been able to work with so many brands over the past decade and that I monetized my Instagram very early on, and that has kept me afloat in a way that many of my dear friends who are actresses have done. haven’t been so happy,” she said.

On social media after her show’s premiere, Busy expressed her gratitude for her glam team.

‘THANK YOU to the people who got me ready for the premiere of #girls5eva (out on @netflix March 14!) @matthewmonzon for cutting my hair so that even in what felt like gusty winds, my hair stayed put (also for running to pack of pink hair dye for me when I realized I was gone),” she began a lengthy caption.

Interacting with her 2.4 million followers, she added: ‘And also thank you for the absolute joy of this show, because honestly? I feel like carrying that joy made me look ten times better last night.”

Philips concluded the note: “Life is really about knowing that there is real sadness and real joy and that you have to hold on to both.”

Actress and singer Renee Rapp was one of the first to comment when she wrote, “No one like you bb.”
