Model Caprice Bourret reveals how she felt her career was over at just 28-years-old due to fears of ageism in the industry but now urges women to ’embrace getting older’

Model Caprice Bourret has revealed how she felt ‘over the hill’ when she was just 28.

The American, who shot to fame after presenting at the National Television Awards in 1996, said ageism is so widespread in the modeling world: ‘I thought, ‘Oh my God, I’m 28, that’s the end of my career. It affected me in a terrible way. It was a disease in the industry.”

But the former Dancing On Ice star, who has her own lingerie brand, was asked on the Dirty Mother Pukka podcast what advice she would pass on to her own daughter.

She continued, “I was really scared; it really affected me in a terrible way. It was a disease in the industry and I would probably just tell her, ‘You know what, you’re only going to get better.’

“Embrace getting older because it’s an amazing journey and it’s great when you get there.”

The California-born TV personality implored women not to fall prey to victimhood, adding, “Let’s not be victims, ladies, because we don’t have to.”

But the model, who married Ty Comfort in 2019, admitted that ‘ageism is real’, although she has managed to turn it into something positive – by focusing on taking care of her own body.

She said: ‘Ageism is real, but here I am with my positivity.

‘There is a downside: if I work very hard on my appearance, and that is my privilege, (because) I like to feel good and that makes me feel good both inside and out.

The now 52-year-old has two ten-year-old sons, one of whom was born via surrogate mother, by British financier Ty Comfort.

She said despite ageism, “I still get great opportunities because I take care of my body.”
