Tanzanian songbird Haitham Kim died on Friday, September 1, 2023, at Temeke Hospital in Dar es Salaam after a short illness.
Kim’s sudden death was announced on social media by her management.
“Rest in peace,” Kim’s manager Ben Q captioned her photo.
The family of the deceased while speaking to Tanzanian media said that the musician was suffering from respiratory problems, including pneumonia which caused her death.
The musician’s husband Boshen shared that Haitham Kim suddenly fell ill with a fever, but later she started having breathing complications.
He added that Kim’s health deteriorated suddenly and was taken to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) where she succumbed to the illness.
“We took her to the hospital, and she stayed in a normal ward for a few days, breathing with the help of an oxygen machine, until four days ago, when her health deteriorated and she was taken to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU),” Boshen said.
Medical appeal
The family had earlier sent an appeal for funds for her treatment after she developed breathing problems.
Bongo singer Harmonize led an online campaign to appeal for funds from fans for Haitham Kim’s treatment.
Unfortunately, the musician died as fans were contributing money for her medical expenses.
Tributes
Several musicians in Tanzania have mourned the death of Haitham Kim.
Harmonize changed his profile picture on Instagram, he replaced his photo with that of the deceased musician.
Kenyan musician Otile Brown too paid tribute to Haitham Kim.
“Dah imeniuma, rest well Haitham,” Otile wrote.
