Mariners vs. White Sox pick
The Mariners look to win their seventh consecutive game in a row tonight when they face the White Sox in the Windy City, and they’ll do it with one of their best pitchers on the mound.
BetMGM is favoring Seattle by 1.5 runs and I like that spread for the road team. Luis Castillo is starting for the Mariners and that should give them the edge over a struggling Chicago squad.
Castillo is having another great season. He comes into tonight’s game with a 3.23 ERA, 166 strikeouts (10th in MLB), and a 1.05 WHIP that ranks fourth in baseball. A rough outing against the Angels on Aug. 4 ballooned his ERA for the month up to 5.68, but the Mariners are scoring 5.4 runs per game this month, so they should be able to give Castillo some run support if he isn’t at his best.
The White Sox have really hit a rough skid of the season, losing seven of their last 10 games. They are also coming off a series loss to the Colorado Rockies where they surrendered a total of 30 runs in three games. Chicago will start right-handed pitcher Touki Toussaint tonight who has a 4.47 ERA and a 1.45 WHIP.
