Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis has been subpoenaed to testify in the divorce case of a colleague with whom she is accused of having an affair during the prosecution of former President Donald Trump.
Willis reportedly had an inappropriate “romantic” relationship with private attorney Nathan Wade, who was paid more than $600,000 as a special counsel to support her office’s sweeping investigation into Trump’s alleged attempt to overturn the election in Georgia.
The allegations were made in a filing by one of former president’s co-defendants and former campaign official Michael Roman.
Willis has now been subpoenaed to testify in the divorce proceedings of Wade and his wife, Joycelyn, according to a court filing seen by The Wall Street Journal.
It could clarify details about their alleged relationship and expose prosecutors to questions about the process that led to Trump’s prosecution.

The bailiff who delivered the subpoena, which was filed by Joycelyn’s attorney, said he left it with Willis’ executive assistant.
It was served Monday before Roman filed a motion pointing to allegations of misconduct by the district attorney and Wade, including “improper, clandestine personal relationships during the pendency of this case.”
The subpoena document provided no details about what questions Willis might face.
The state court, which is seeking the dismissal of the charges against Roman, alleges that Willis had a personal relationship with Wade.
It provides no documentary evidence for the allegations. It says that “sources close to both the special counsel and the district attorney confirmed that they had an ongoing, personal relationship.”

An attorney representing Michael Roman made allegations in a filing that Willis and Wade had a romantic relationship and asked for the charges to be dismissed.
The motion explains the seriousness of the allegations. “The Instant Motion was not filed lightly. Nor is it filed without much precaution, investigation or investigation,” the filing said.
“Nevertheless, this motion must be heard because the issues raised herein go to the heart of the fairness of our justice system and, if left unaddressed and unchecked, threaten to taint the entire prosecution process, invite mistakes and undermine public confidence in the final situation completely undermine it. outcome of these proceedings.’
It states that the couple “had a personal, romantic relationship that ultimately generated significant revenue for the Special Prosecutor.”
The filing refers to a sealed divorce petition for the married special prosecutor, but then proceeds to file the claim based on other information.
It states that “information obtained outside the court records indicates that the District Attorney and the Special Prosecutor have personally traveled together to places such as Napa Valley, Florida and the Caribbean and that the Special Prosecutor has purchased tickets for both of them to meet with both the Norwegian and Royal Caribbean cruise lines.
“Traveling together to places like Washington, DC or New York City may make sense for work purposes in light of other pending lawsuits, but what work purpose can be served solely by traveling to these traditional vacation destinations?”
Among the documents DailyMail.com reviewed were Wade’s invoices to the district attorney. They include one bill for an eight-hour “DC/White House interview” on November 18, 2022, and another eight-hour bill including “conference with White House counsel” on May 23, 2022.
A spokesperson for Willis told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that the district attorney’s office would respond “through appropriate court filings.”
“The prosecutor has chosen to name her romantic partner, who has been a married man at all times relevant to this prosecution,” the filing said.
It says the prosecutor and Wade “have been seen together privately in and around the Atlanta area” and that “it is suspected that they may have been living together in some capacity.”
The filing also states that there is “no evidence” that Willis was “authorized” by the county to use funds to retain Wade for the case.
Attorney Wade had two meetings with the Biden White House during his investigation, according to court documents reviewed by DailyMail.com.
Wade was billed a total of $4,000 for his two days of meetings and calls at the White House, the invoices show.
It was part of nearly $654,000 in work that Wade did on Willis’ investigation of Trump and his staffers since January 2022, the documents allege.
Roman, who served as director of Election Day operations for Trump’s 2020 campaign, was charged this summer with alleged crimes including participating in a racketeering conspiracy, conspiracy to commit forgery and conspiracy to file false documents.
They are all said to be related to a plan to propose fake Republican electors who would cast votes for Trump instead of electors, to mirror Joe Biden’s certified victory in the state.
