If you are a fan of kikuyu Benga music you must have come across the late John Demathew at some point. He was a popular Kikuyu benga musician who was known across the country despite him being a local artist. He was known for political songs, love songs and cultural songs as well.
He died four years ago in a road accident which left the whole country in tears. Some hours ago his wife Sarafina Demathew posted on her Facebook official page announcing that it’s now four years since he died. She added another post announcing that kikuyu musicians will be meeting this Friday in remembrance of the great Kikuyu fallen hero.
The event will be at Kenol OJ on Friday night starting from 8:00pm to morning. Almost all Kikuyu musicians will be around including Franco Wasubu, Evans Demathew, Demathew junior, Wahome maingi, Gathee Wa Njeri, Eddie Gathenge, Sammy K, Ngaruiya Junior, Mzima Mzima, Kuruga Wa Wanjiku, Mary Lincoln, Carol Wa Tatanga, M.k Thiiru, among many others. May John Demathew continue resting in peace.
