SARAH PERRY (she/they) is a skilled memoirist and essayist whose writing delves into a diverse array of topics, including love, food culture, body image, trauma, gender-based violence, queerness, and the intricate power dynamics that underpin these concerns. Renowned for her work, Perry is the author of the memoir “After the Eclipse,” a piece that garnered recognition as a New York Times Book Review Editors’ Choice, a Poets & Writers Notable Nonfiction Debut, and a Barnes and Noble Discover Great New Writers selection. Her upcoming essay collection, “Sweet Nothings,” is eagerly anticipated and will be published by Mariner/HarperCollins.

Currently, Perry contributes to academia as a faculty member in the graduate program in Creative Writing at the University of North Texas. Her impact extends beyond the classroom; in 2019, she held the position of McGee Distinguished Professor of Creative Writing at Davidson College. Perry’s teaching experience spans institutions such as Columbia University, Manhattanville College, The Sackett Street Writers’ Workshop, the Unterberg Poetry Center at the 92nd Street Y, and Catapult.

Albee Foundation, VCCA, Playa, and The Studios of Key West. She earned her M.F.A. in nonfiction from Columbia University.

Originally hailing from Maine, Perry’s journey has taken her through ten years in the Southeast and another decade in Brooklyn, New York. Currently residing in Denton, Texas (on the occupied/unceded/seized territory of the Wichita and Affiliated Tribes and the Caddo Nation), Tulsa, Oklahoma (on tribal lands of the Osage, Cherokee, Muscogee (Creek) People), and Brooklyn (on unceded land of the Lanape People), Perry is actively engaged in her third book: a sequel memoir titled “The Book of Regrets.”
