Glenn Close to Star as Carmel Snow in Apple TV+’s “The New Look” Series

Apple TV+ has announced that Glenn Close, a three-time Emmy Award winner and Academy Award nominee, will portray Carmel Snow, the legendary editor-in-chief of Harper’s Bazaar, in the historical drama series “The New Look.” The show, created by Todd A. Kessler, marks the reunion of Close and Kessler since their award-winning collaboration on “Damages.”

Close joins an impressive ensemble cast, including Ben Mendelsohn as Christian Dior, Juliette Binoche as Coco Chanel, Maisie Williams as Catherine Dior, John Malkovich as Lucien Lelong, Emily Mortimer as Elsa Lombardi, and Claes Bang as Spatz. “The New Look” is set to premiere with the first three episodes on February 14, 2024, on Apple TV+, followed by weekly releases through April 3.

Filmed exclusively in Paris, the series is inspired by true events and explores the impact of World War II on fashion designers like Dior and Chanel. Against the backdrop of Nazi-occupied Paris, “The New Look” delves into the transformative era when the city led the world back to life through modern fashion.

The storyline not only focuses on the rise of Christian Dior but also examines the challenges faced by his contemporaries and rivals, including Coco Chanel, Pierre Balmain, Cristóbal Balenciaga, and more. It provides a captivating look into the atelier, designs, and clothing created by Christian Dior in collaboration with the House of Dior.

Produced by Apple Studios and DB-AK Productions, “The New Look” is written, executive produced, and directed by Todd A. Kessler, with Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Mark Baker serving as executive producers.
