Prior to this, the former Senate staffer was well-known for his connection to President Joe Biden; he was featured in an advertisement and acknowledged on his mother’s since-deleted X account.
His mother thanked Biden for mentioning her son in a message to supporters in a tweet from November 2020.
Maese-Czeropski was criticized for remarks he has made in the past, such as one he made in 2020 on the Venmo payment app in which he said he wanted President Biden to “spit in my mouth.”
He admitted to having “poor judgment” and said he had been attacked for his personal life in an attempt to further a political cause in a statement posted on LinkedIn. He said, “I love my job and would never disrespect my workplace.”
Maese-Czeropski argues that his acts are not about personal preferences, but rather about capturing sexual content inside a U.S. government office. However, his actions have been widely mocked by the public, including the disgraced Rep. George Santos.
