A 26-year-old caregiver at the Landings of Genesee Valley assisted living facility in Michigan is under scrutiny and facing serious charges after a disturbing incident involving a vulnerable elderly patient came to light. Dontia Shawnra Arrington has been accused of violently assaulting an elderly woman in her care, an act that was captured on a nanny cam installed by the victim’s family.

The surveillance video allegedly shows Arrington back-slapping, choking, and repeatedly hitting the elderly woman with a soiled diaper. The victim, who suffers from severe dementia, was unable to comprehend or defend herself during the assault.

The family of the elderly woman installed the nanny cam to ensure their loved one’s safety, a decision that has now provided crucial evidence in the case against Arrington. The footage has shocked the community and raised concerns about the safety and well-being of elderly residents in assisted living facilities.

Arrington has been charged with multiple counts related to the abuse and could face up to life in prison if convicted on all charges. She is currently being held on a $45,000 bond.
