The Columbia College Chicago Music Department is thrilled to announce the residency of the esteemed conductor, composer, and arranger, Cliff Colnot. Maestro Colnot brings his wealth of experience to the New Music Ensemble (NME), collaborating with students in open rehearsals to prepare for the performance of 14 new compositions and arrangements crafted by the ensemble members themselves.

🌟 A Maestro with a Distinguished Legacy:
Colnot, renowned for his association with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra (CSO) and his more than two-decade tenure as the chief conductor of the Civic Orchestra, is an iconic figure in the world of classical music. Having studied orchestral repertoire with the legendary Daniel Barenboim, Colnot stands as one of the few musicians to receive such an honor. His contributions extend to serving as the assistant conductor for Barenboim’s West-Eastern Divan Workshops, fostering young talent from Israel, Egypt, Syria, and other Middle Eastern countries. Additionally, Colnot has collaborated extensively with the late Pierre Boulez, acting as his assistant conductor at the Lucerne Festival Academy.
