Nairobi Hospital assures public of smooth operations and denies reports of doctor’s strike

The Nairobi Hospital has denied reports circulating on social media and local outlets that its doctors have gone on strike to demand the resignation of the board of directors.

In a statement shared on Monday, September 16, 2024, the hospital reassured the public that all operations were running smoothly. It urged its partners and stakeholders to dismiss any rumours about a looming strike.

“We would like to assure the general public that our operations are going on smoothly. We urge our partners and stakeholders to ignore reports going round in sections of the media about an impending strike by our doctors. We are grateful for your support,” the statement read.

Earlier, a notice was widely circulated, claiming that doctors at the facility would cease admissions and only attend to patients already in the wards, at private clinics, and in emergency cases.

The notice also demanded the resignation of the hospital’s board of directors, citing a crisis in governance.
